Rarest album, first released in 1959 on the prestigious Folkways label.A collection of British songs about love, adapted and sung by Shirley Elizabeth Collins of Sussex, England; with guitar and five string banjo accompaniment by John Hasted, Ralph Rinzler, Guy Carawan and Miss Collins. False True Lovers was Shirley Collins' first full length album, recorded in London by Alan Lomax and Peter Kennedy . The choice of repertoire and arrangements capture a turning moment in the English folk song revival of the 1950's, and in the recording career of one of England's finest interpreters of traditional song. She's known for her many collaborations with the like of English Folk musicians like Davy Graham , Richard Thopmson ( Fairport Convention ),Mike Heron and Robin Williamson of the Incredible String Band, the Young Tradition ,Mike Heron and Robin Williamson of the Incredible String Band, and of course the Albion Country Band, made up of Ashley Hutchings, Richard Thompson, Simon Nicol, John Kirkpatrick, along with Lal and Mike Waterson, Maddy Prior and Royston Wood.
